The human body naturally produces free radicals that damage healthy cells and contribute to aging. Environmental toxins, tobacco smoke, pollution, detergents and ozone also help create these compounds. While eating right reduces the effects of free radicals, it is all but impossible to get an adequate level of antioxidants through regular diet alone.

Antioxidant vitamins like those in Super Antioxidant plus Macular Guardian supplement foods. The vitamins fight free radicals by inhibiting the attachment of the unstable free radicals to the more stable molecules in the body’s tissues. The ingredients in this antioxidant supplement also facilitate energy reduction of the free radicals, and help interrupt an oxidizing chain reaction to minimize the damage caused by the free radicals. The mixture of antioxidant vitamins and other ingredients is specially formulated to provide maximum effectiveness for better wellbeing, including a healthy immune system.
Super Antioxidant plus Macular Guardian is also formulated to support eye health. And each daily dosage of this immune support supplement can help the body’s defenses by fighting free radicals.
The antioxidant vitamins A, C and E assist in a variety of important functions that support good health. Vitamin A, in the form of beta-carotene, fights free radicals and their effects on the body. Regular dosages of the antioxidant supplement also contribute to eye health. A lack of vitamin A has been linked to eye problems that can lead to a decrease in vision. Super Antioxidant plus Macular Guardian delivers 40% of the daily value of this antioxidant vitamin in each daily dosage. Vitamin A works with other ingredients in this immune support supplement help the body’s efforts to fight against the deleterious effects of oxidative stress.
Another ingredient in this antioxidant vitamin, lycopene, assists in important functions essential to good health. The phytochemical can be naturally found in tomatoes and other red fruits. As part of this immune support supplement, lycopene supports immune function.
Astaxanthin in this antioxidant supplement is a phytochemical like lycopene. However, it does not convert to Vitamin A in the human body, reducing the risk of ingesting so much of the vitamin that it becomes toxic. Another antioxidant, laboratory research has suggested astaxanthin to be twice as effective as beta-carotene in protecting the body from oxidative damage. (11) Astaxanthin has also been shown to protect the eyes from ultraviolet light damage (UVA and UVB), contributing to eye health.
The 250 mg of Vitamin C in a daily dosage of this antioxidant supplement can help fight free radicals. A research study showed that the antioxidant vitamin C accounted for 35% to 75% of the antioxidant power of vitamin C-rich fresh fruits and vegetables such as grapefruits, kiwi and cauliflower. (1) Furthermore, supplemental vitamin C has been shown to be effective in promoting eye health by protecting the proteins of the eye lens from oxidation, in hunting free radicals in the retina, and in promoting health in the cornea. (2) Vitamin C works with the other ingredients in this immune support supplement to help protect the body against free radical damage.
Vitamin E in this antioxidant supplement neutralizes free radicals that detract from good health. Each daily dosage in Super Antioxidant plus Macular Guardian delivers more than six times the daily value. This immune support supplement has also been shown to play a role in immune function and DNA protection. (4-5) Vitamin E can also support eye health. Some studies have found that lens clarity was greater in regular users of vitamin E supplements and in persons with higher blood levels of vitamin E. (6) The natural form of vitamin E is believed to be twice as effective as an antioxidant vitamin as synthetic vitamin E.
Folic acid and Vitamins B6 and B12 in this antioxidant supplement contribute to good health. These antioxidant vitamins help maintain normal homocysteine levels. (3) Research has shown that too much homocysteine in the blood may be detrimental to good health.
Vitamin B12 works with antioxidant vitamins to minimize damage to body cell walls. The vitamin is also a natural nerve protector. Without adequate coverage, nerve cells leading to the eye may suffer damage, negatively affecting eye health. (7)
The zinc in this antioxidant supplement has also been shown to support eye health and immune function. Zinc is recommended for individuals diagnosed as being at high-risk for age-related vision loss. A study that established age-related vision loss as a “nutrition-responsive disorder” found that a daily intake of 40 to 80 mg per day of zinc and antioxidants helped slow the progression of age-related vision loss. (8) A daily dosage of Super Antioxidant plus Macular Guardian supplies 30 mg of zinc. A daily intake is required because the body has no mechanism for storing the element. Zinc also helps brings vitamin A from the liver to the retina in order to produce melanin, a protective pigment in the eyes. And the zinc in this immune support supplement plays a role in immune function. (9)
Paired with the zinc is copper. The same study found that higher levels of zinc may interfere with the absorption of copper in the body. The trace element is essential to synthesizing hemoglobin and maintaining blood vessels. Each daily dosage of this antioxidant supplement contains 25% of the daily value of copper. Like zinc, copper cannot be manufactured by the body.
A third trace element in this antioxidant supplement, magnesium, assists in a variety of functions that contribute to good health. A lack of magnesium puts stress on the immune system and may affect its response to attacks. (10) A daily dosage of this antioxidant vitamin contains 250% of the daily value.
The Lutein in Super Antioxidant plus Macular Guardian assists in eye health. Lutein is the primary carotenoid present in the macula and acts as a filter to protect the eyes.
The Green Tea Extract in this antioxidant supplement contains catechin polyphenols. Also found in red wine and olive oil, the antioxidant is responsible for numerous health benefits.
Super Antioxidant plus Macular Guardian is formulated for males and females ages 20 and up. Take this immune support supplement twice daily. Each bottle contains a month supply of 60 tablets.
